David McMeeking
As a youngster I was encouraged to be active, to try out lots of different sports and to travel. These early experiences kick-started a hunger to find
opportunities to explore the remoter and wilder parts of the world and to develop my skills through training, competitions and adventure.
Early sailing in small dinghies led to sailing offshore and RYA qualifications to enable yacht deliveries and offshore racing from the Sydney Hobart to the
RORC Fastnet campaign.
The inspiration of a local climber and by climbing local sandstone outcrops as a teenager led to a realisation of how hard climbing could be… but also where it might lead.
Over the years, skills developed in Scotland and the Alps have opened up expeditions to the great mountain ranges of the world and to opportunities in
Peru,
Kyrgyzstan,
Antarctica and now South Georgia.
Whether travelling on foot, horseback or skis, or in a sailing boat the world has opened up in ways I could not have imagined. This website is to share some of those experiences.
